Abstract:The translation of Buddhist scripture is discussed from the perspective of intersubjectivity. The development of practice and ideas of translation during the three stages of the Buddhist scripture translation convinces the author that it is the dialogue between the translators, the readership, the power and patronage, and the social/cultural needs that ushers in the boom of the Buddhist scripture translation that lasts the longest, is the largest in scale and the greatest in influence in China.
