Abstract:Increasing attention has been paid to the study of imitation words, a frequently used way of creating new words, in linguistics research. The rationale behind imitation words is the important basis for an effective acquisition of linguistic knowledge, and metacognition is the main basis of the acquisition of imitation words. So a lexical teaching based on the rationale behind imitation words is conducive to building up a metacognitive learning strategy, and improving vocabulary knowledge and comprehensive linguistic development.
