Prominent R wave in lead V1 reflects lateral not posterior myocardial infarction: new evidences based on the correlation between cardiac magnetic resonance and ECG
Abstract:A prominent R wave in lead V1 after myocardial infarction(MI) has been considered as ECG criterion of posterior MI with relatively low sensibility and accuracy, however. Magnetic resonance imaging of myocardium delay enhancement(MRIMDE) is a new “gold standard” technique for determining the location, size, and transmural extent of MI in vivo. It has been verified by many investigators that the location of MI determined by MRIMDE is related to electrocardiographic morphology in patients with Qwave MI. This paper mainly reviews the literatures about the correlation between MRIMDE and ECG, and illustrates that prominent R wave in right precordial leads is caused by lateral MI rather than posterior MI.
