Abstract:Taking a laser surface textured mechanical seal(LST-MS)as the research object, the surface roughness model conforming with Gauss probability distribution was established. The influence of surface roughness on the sealing performance of different parts of the sealing end surface was studied using the software Fluent. The orthogonal test further analyzed the influence of the roughness of different parts on the sealing performance.The results show that the liquid film opening force and friction torque increase with the increase of end surface roughness and rotation speed. The leakage decreases with the increase of end surface roughness and increases with the increase of the rotational speed. The degree of influence on the increase of the opening force and friction torque, and the decrease of the leakage are as follows: the roughness of the cavity of the moving ring is the most affected, the influence of the roughness of the static ring end surface is the second, and the roughness of the non-recessed area of the moving ring is the least.
