Advances in mechanical seal performance testing techniques

Abstract:Studies on mechanical seal testing techniques have important significance for improving technological level of testing equipment of mechanical seal and designing best performance mechanical seal products. The bottlenecks in current mechanical seal performance testing techniques are identified through summarizing and analyzing testing techniques in friction torque, temperature, film pressure, film thickness, wear and leakage in mechanical seals over the past decades. It is suggested that the development tendency of mechanical seal performance testing techniques in the following years includes innovating new micro surface force sensors, wireless torque sensors and self-powered devices, noncontact infrared temperature detection technology on seal end faces and the B-mode ultrasonic imaging online wear measurement technology.
