Abstract One of the core characteristics of risk society is the universality of risk. In this sense, whether the university culture has the absolute security status, but also faces the challenge, then becomes the question which is worth asking. Based on the intersection of sociology, culture and higher education, from the "risk society" theory, the cultural security in universities is divided into three levels, two dimensions, and three types. Based on this, the paper reviews the constant, hierarchical, endogenous and perceived risks faced by the cultural security in universities, and puts forward some suggestions for the construction of cultural security in universities from three dimensions of macro, meso and micro.
