Abstract College governance is the premise and foundation of university governance. University teachers are the mainstay of talent cultivation, scientific research and cultural inheritance and innovation, and their participation in college governance can enhance the scientificity and effectiveness of decisionmaking. This study takes A University as the research object and uses the grounded theory to deeply explore existing problems in teachers′ participation in college governance. It finds that main obstacles for university teachers to participate in college governance are imperfection of the rules and regulations system, imperfection of the structure and operation mechanism of governance organizations, teachers′ insufficient motivation to participate, and lack of governance culture.
