Abstract The sustainable development of higher education is a development with high standards, high quality, and high standing, which not only serves the needs of highquality economic and social development, but also serves the needs of the overall development of universities and people. Only by building a highquality higher education system by the concept and standards of sustainable development can we accomplish the longterm goal of higher education power, Chinesestyle modernization, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation faster and better. To this end, we must deeply understand and accurately grasp the value implications of building a highquality higher education system. Taking the realization of Chinesestyle modernization as the direction and the new development concept as the action framework, we should actively respond to problems including the "urgent" national strategy, the "flat" discipline construction, the "only" education evaluation, the "weak" internationalization development, and the "low" resource supply, and accelerate the construction of highquality higher education service system, discipline system, evaluation system, open system and resource sharing system.
