| Research on factors influencing organizational strength improvement of grass-roots Party organizations in universities: the qualitative comparative analysis of fuzzy sets based on 20 cases |

Abstract The construction of grassroots Party organizations in China′s universities is facing contradictions and challenges, and it is necessary to explore influencing factors and paths of organizational strength improvement of these organizations. To explore core factors affecting organizational strength improvement of these organizations and the complex logic behind them, four conditional variables are extracted based on the framework of the bidirectional embedding theory, and case samples of 20 grassroots Party organizations in universities are analyzed by the method of Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA). It is found that the single embedding of structural, cognitive, cultural and political factors is not enough to effectively enhance the organizational strength of grassroots Party organizations in universities. Four path models to improve the organizational strength are the "organizationpolitical type", "cognitivepolitical type", "leadershipcognitive type" and "culturalpolitical type", among which the "cognitivepolitical type" and "culturalpolitical type" play more significant roles. Therefore, grassroots Party organizations in universities should attach importance to political resource embedding, focus on the work of Party building according to the discipline strength and overall influence, and select and appoint Party secretaries who attach importance to the work of Party building and have the outstanding working ability.
