Abstract The history of student finance reform in higher education is very similar between China and the UK. But the financial aid system in the two countries is different in basic funding ideas, policies, qualifications and amount. This paper makes a deep study into the student funding systems in both countries, and suggests a shift from free sponsorship to paid fund as the primary funding form, establishing a more flexible repayment options, and refining loan variety according to requirements, etc.
