Abstract At present, it is an important task to achieve a deeper understanding of the rational appeal for university autonomy. Judging from the worldwide trend in the development of knowledge society, new management ideas and popularization of higher education as well as the universitys urgent demands on innovation, distinctiveness and adaptation, the current development of higher education offers a great scope and presents a stronger appeal for university autonomy.
