Abstract The ideological and political functions of labor education in colleges and universities means that colleges and universities can help the educational objects form correct labor ideas and labor values through labor education. In order to better achieve the goal of fostering virtue through education, cultivate socialist builders and successors with allround development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor, and promote the effective realization of the ideological and political functions of labor education have become an important task of the current labor education in colleges and universities. However, the realization of the ideological and political functions of labor education in colleges and universities is restricted by factors such as the lack of relevant concepts, the imperfection of the main body cooperation mechanism, and the obstacles to the integration of resources.
