Abstract The demand of training innovative talents under the logic of knowledge production, the demand of constructing first-class disciplines under the logic of discipline development and the demand of building a modern scientific and technological power through scientific and technological self-reliance under the logic of scientific research paradigm jointly drive the continuous improvement of the quality of interdisciplinary talent training. Based on the analysis framework of synergetic studies, it is found that the high-quality development of interdisciplinary talent training is caused by the self-organizing effect of the interaction between the problem solving orientation of knowledge production, the crossborder integration trend of discipline development, and the transformation of scientific research paradigm collaborative innovation. In this light, the talent training of universities in China is still a traditional discipline model, the overall quality of interdisciplinary disciplines is not high, and the contribution of interdisciplinary integration to scientific and technological innovation is low at present. To this end, universities need to optimise their teaching and research models, innovate cross-disciplinary organisations and revise their disciplinary evaluation systems to empower the training of top-notch innovative talents, enhance the construction of first-class disciplines and promote high-level scientific and technological self-sufficiency.
