Abstract A series of events took place in the field of higher education in 2013, bringing about new issues such as new policy for College Entrance Examination, the Higher Education Rejuvenation Program for Central and Western China, MOOC, university governance structure, university rules and regulations, the psychological problems of college students, and employment and selfemployment of college students. At the end of the year of 2013, three prominent experts in higher education, Wu Daguang, Bie Dunrong and He Zubin, were invited by us to review and analyze the major research findings and developments accomplished in 2013 as well as predict the prospects for furthering the research in 2014 on the previously mentioned issues.
