Abstract:Metaphor serves as a window for us to understand the idea of a university. In the history of university development, ivory tower, service station and organism are the three classic metaphors. They reflect the philosophy and the spiritual value of university education as well as the meaning of its existence from different aspects and record peoples deepening understanding and concern of the university. They provide better footnotes for us to understand the genetic characteristics of the university and its inner logic and also evoke our reflections.
