Abstract:Objective: To explore the students′ psychology of malocclusion, thus to provide guidance for clinical practice. Methods: According to the comprehensive strength of school, students with individual normal occlusion were selected from 1 430 students coming from 38 classes of 9 shcools in the city of Zhenjiang with the methods of randomization and stratified cluster sampling. The students with malocclusion were chosen from department of orthodontics, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria .The students were divided into two groups: G1(12-15 years old) and G2(above 16 years old). Then they were surveyed by using Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ) under the same condition. Results: Factors of P and N in EPQ of the students with individual normal occlusion in G1 were lower than that of domestic normal sample respectively. Factors of P and N in EPQ of the students in G2 were higher than that of domestic normal sample respectively,but the differences were not significant. Factors of E and L in EPQ of the students with individual normal occlusion were significantly higher than that of domestic normal sample respectively. Conclusion: The young patients had higher introverted personality and unstable personality than the young students of individual normal occlusion, and the adult patients had even psychoticism and telling lie,so clinical treatment should take into account the patient′s psychological factors.
