Abstract The American Heart Association updated its 2006 edition of healthy dietary guidelines in 2021. The new guidelines emphasize the overall benefits of dietary pattern changes and the benefits of adopting health-promoting dietary patterns from birth for cardiovascular health. Integrating with Chinese dietary habits and dietary structure, this paper interprets AHA “2021 dietary guidance to improve cardiovascular health”, and further proposes dietary patterns suitable for Chinese population.
