Abstract:The present survey of the salaries, salary growth, and employment sectors of the foreignborn doctoral degree recipients who participated in the US National Science Foundations Survey of Doctorate Recipients (SDR) shows that average annual salaries of foreignborn workers in 1999 were lower than those of their USborn peers, but over the decade to 2008, their salaries surpassed those of their USborn colleagues. An analysis of the survey results also reveals the differences in the decennial salary growth for foreignborn versus USborn doctorates, which are likely due to a number of factors including disciplines and market demands.
