Abstract Hopf bifurcation analysis and amplitude control were corducted for a modified Lorenz system. An equilibrium point of Hopf bifurcation was
searched. Based on the theory of bifurcation, a self-designed nonlinear controller was used to shrink the amplitude of the limit cycle caused by Hopf
bifurcation. The correctness of theory analysis and the feasibility of amplitude control were verified by the numerical simulation.
