Abstract In order to realize accurate output of single laser pulse at given position in laser micro-manufacturing field, a laser pulse control card was developed based on complex programmable logic device (CPLD) and MCU. The highspeed parallel communication between MCU and IPC was realized by CPLD to receive the feedback signals from the motion system, and to complete feedback signals fourfold frequency treatment. The counting and frequency dividing of the feedback signals pretreated by CPLD were completed by MCU to output the control signal of certain frequency and pulse width to laser Q-driver. The regular output of single laser pulse was realized by acoustic-optic Q-switched technology. The results show that the laser pulse control card can integrate the respective advantages of CPLD and MCU to reduce external circuit module and decrease the production cost with improved system stability. Based on the coordinated control of motion control system and output of single laser pulse by the laser pulse control card, the output of single laser pulse at given position is precisely and successfully realized to ensure high efficiency and quality of the laser micromanufacturing.
