Abstract In order to reduce the complexity of partial transmit sequence(PTS) technique used for peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction, based on the analysis of the relationship between the largest peak of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) sequence and the peaks (including the largest peak and sub-peaks) of partial transmit sequences, a lowcomplexity PTS was presented, which used PTS sampling sequences instead of partial transmit ones in the optimizing process of phase factor sequence. Two feasible sampling schemes were also provided to realize the PAPR reduction method. The PTS sampling sequences have fewer samples, so that the new method can achieve low complexity. Simulation results show that compared with original PTS, the new method just has a tiny PAPR reduction performance loss.
