Abstract In order to effectively solve the problems of chunking, chip off-falling, easily being punctured and worn, and further improve service life of engineering vehicle retreaded tire, the engineering retreaded tire tread rubber was used as matrix with carbon fiber as reinforcement. The bonding property of interface between carbon fiber and tread was observed and analyzed by electronic microscope, and the effects of bonding body and mixing smelting technique on tread rubber bonding performance were also inspected. The effect laws of carbon fiber material with different length and quality percentage on performance of engineering vehicle retreaded tire tread were achieved through performance comparing of stretching strength, tearing strength, elasticity modulus, maximum elongation, rebound resilience, hardness and wearing index. The test results show that the reinforcement effect on engineering retreaded tread rubber is optimum with carbon fiber length of about 6 mm and quality percentage of about 7%. The main physical and mechanical performance indexes are good, and the service life of engineering vehicle retreaded tire is greatly improved.
