Investigation on thermoelectric refrigeration system with different heat rejection at cold and hot sides

Abstract:A thermoelectric refrigerator with a water-cooled hot side was designed and constructed. Its performance with different heat rejection at cold and hot sides was investigated. The test results show that refrigerating output and COP increase with the voltage of the fan at cold side, while the consumed electricity almost keeps constant. The refrigeration temperature and the heat conducted from hot side to cold side descend with a higher rotation speed of the fan. The consumed electricity, refrigerating output and COP of the refrigerator increase with a lower temperature of cooling-water of hot side. The refrigeration temperature and heat conducted from hot side to cold side decrease with the temperature of cooling-water. The performance of the refrigerator can be improved with a higher voltage of the fan and a lower temperature of the cooling-water.
