Abstract Objective: To investigate the expression of forkhead box C2(FOXC2) in pancreatic cancer and its correlation with the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer. Methods: Oncomine database was used to analyze the expression of FOXC2 mRNA in pancreatic cancer and adjacent tissues of cancer. Realtime PCR and immunohistochemical staining were used to detect the expression of FOXC2 in 112 cases of pancreatic cancer and adjacent tissues. The relationship between FOXC2 expression and the clinical parameters was analyzed. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the association of FOXC2 expression with the survival time of patients. Results: FOXC2 mRNA was up-regulated in pancreatic cancer tissues compared with adjacent tissues by analyzing Oncomine database(tBadea=4.074,tPei=3.741,both P<0.05).The expression level of FOXC2 mRNA in pancreatic cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues (t=13.79,P<0.05). The positive rate of FOXC2 in cancer tissues with lymph node metastasis was higher than that without lymph node metastasis(χ 2=16.998,P<0.01). The positive rate of FOXC2 in stage Ⅲ was higher than that in stage Ⅰ (χ 2=15.688,P<0.001) and stage Ⅱ (χ 2=10.678,P=0.001). The median survival time of FOXC2 positive group was significantly lower than that of the negative group ( χ 2=10.32,P=0.001 3). The positive expression of FOXC2 (HR=2.569,P=0.003) was an independent predictor for prognosis of pancreatic cancer. Conclusion: FOXC2 expression was upregulated in pancreatic cancer tissue, which was highly related with the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer.
