Correlation of thymidylate synthase and dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase with
clinicopathological features and prognosis of breast cancer patients

Abstract Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of thymidylate synthase(TS) and dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase(DPD) in breast cancer patients in Kashi area. Methods: Immunohistochemical staining was used to compare the expression of TS and DPD in tumor tissues and paracancerous tissues of 60 breast cancer patients. The relationship between the expression of TS and DPD in tumor tissues and clinicopathological features was analyzed. The KaplanMeier method was used to analyze the relationship between expression of TS and DPD protein and survival time of patients. Results: The positive rates of TS and DPD in tumor tissues were significantly higher than those in paracancerous tissues(both P0.05). Conclusion: The expression of TS and DPD in breast cancer tumor tissues was abnormally increased.The expression of TS is associated with some clinicopathological features and survival time of patients.
