Changes of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy in patients with first episode obsessive-compulsive disorder with citalopram treatment |

Abstract Objective: To explore the abnormality of the brain′s metabolism about the bilateral corpus striatum in firstepisode obsessivecompulsive disorder patients receiving citalopram. Methods: Using magnetic resonance spectroscopy and analyzing technology1 HMRS to detect multiple metabolic indices of the corpus striatum of 20 patients receiving citalopram and 20 healthy persons, including NAA, Choline(Cho), myoinositol(MI), creatine(Cr). Results: The value NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr in the copus striatum of the firstepisode of obsessivecompulsive disorder group were significantly higher than those in the control group before treatment(P<0.05),the value of MI/Cr was no significant change compared with that in the control group(P>0.05); after treatment,the value of NAA/Cr was lower than before treatment(P<0.05), the value of Cho/Cr and MI/Cr were no significant change(P>0.05). Conclusion: 1 HMRS can provide some objective basis for clinical evaluation of the efficacy of OCD patients by measuring the changes of the metabolites in the striatum.
