Abstract:Objective: To investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection and coronary heart disease(CHD) in the people of Shanghai. Methods:The selected patients and controls underwent a standard physical examination and questionnaire. Odds ratios(OR) of Hp infection ratio and the hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) level for coronary heart disease were analyzed by logistic regression. Results :Hp infection ratio and hs-CRP level in CHD cases were significantly higher than that of controls(χ2=6.63,t=22.82, P<0.05). Age and sex adjusted odds ratios of Helicobacter pylori infection ratio and the hs-CRP level for CHD were 1.146(0.722-1.819),1.073(0.969-1.187), respectively. Fully adjusted odds ratios of Helicobacter pylori infection ratio and the hs-CRP level for CHD were 1.132(0.682-1.877), 1.026(0.918-1.147),respectively. Conclusions:There were no obvious associations between Hp infection ratio and hs-CRP level with coronary heart disease. Hp infection and hs-CRP level should not be considered as the risk factors of CHD for Shanghai people.
