Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of epigallocatechin-3-gallate(EGCG) on the proliferation and radioiodine accumulation in papillary thyroid cancer(PTC) cells. Methods: After PTC cells W3 were treated by using different concentrations of EGCG for 48 h, the proliferation of PTC cells was detected by 3-4,5dimethylthiazol-2-yl-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay; the expression of sodium iodide symporter(NIS) in PTC cells was detected by flowcytometry and immunofluorescence methods; the ability of PTC cells to iodide-uptake was measured by iodide-uptake assay. Results: The proliferation of PTC cells was decreased, and the expression of NIS in PTC cells was increased, in a concentration dependent manner.And the ability of iodideuptake in PTC cells was increased significantly in some concentration gradient. Conclusion: EGCG inhibited the growth of PTC cells and enhanced the ability of iodideuptake through increased expression of NIS.
