Abstract This paper approaches the gender construction features in Pearl S. Bucks Kinsfolk, examining the virilization and feminization of the main characters, which can reveal the foreignization of social gender under the influence of a foreign culture and the coexisting and competing relationship between this foreign culture and the mainstream culture, in order to have a deeper understanding of Bucks strategy in the face of the conflict between Chineses and American culture and her introspection of the differences between the two cultures.
