Abstract “The Belt and Road(B&R)” as a major strategy during the critical period of Chinas current social development affects the sustainability of Chinas economic and social development directly, and its implementation must be based on rational investigation of reality and history. In line with the economic, political and social history and reality, and an analysis of its background and implementation conditions, this paper argues that the initiative should be implemented rather than cherished as a grandiose dream in the context of domestic and international politics and economy, with a focus on strengthening the economic cooperation between China and ASEAN, and that between China and MidAsia, and vigorously transforming and upgrading Chinas economic structure.
