Abstract Henan Province was one of the severely afflicted areas in the Great Leap Forward Movement, resulting in countless deaths of edema and starving, with “Yudong Incident” and “Xinyang Incident” as two of the most miserable disasters. Although local governments took some relief measures after famine took place, the extreme Leftist thoughts prompted them to cover the reality, prosecuting those who dared to expose the famine and deaths and obstruct the investigation teams sent by the Central Government so that famine became more serious and more people died. It took a long time and went through a difficult process for the famine and deaths in Henan to be completely exposed.
