Abstract:This year marked the 150th anniversary of Sun Yatsens birthday. Sun was a great democratic revolutionary in modern China. He devoted his life to democracy and progress, overthrowing the imperialism, creating a republic, preventing civil war, and upholding law—in short, he fought for the independence, freedom, democracy and prosperity of his homeland all his life. His Three Principles of the People, derived from his ideas of national libration, democratic constitutionalism, and improving livelihood, are still the common spiritual property shared by all Chinese. To commemorate his birthday, we invited three scholars to voice their views of Sun Yatsen. Suns carelessness of position, nonchalance of private interest, and tolerance of others, his indomitable spirit and his awareness of SinoWestern Cultures will forever spur the Chinese people to embark on the road of national renaissance.
