Abstract:Man as a symbolic animal, his production of meaning symbolizes a cultural process. Language is the mode and cornerstone of meaning, which is constantly gaining, accumulating, solidifying, shaking, losing, and conflicting in the process of manufacturing, disciplining and punishing. Literary discourse is a retrospective confirmation, a functional existence, and a field for producing ideological structure and fission, rather than an unchangeable entity. The production of meaning is more complicated today. The significance of literature lies in the different roles in the spectra of social discourse, which, to a large extent, is an important criterion to tell “Good literature” and “Competent Literature” from “Bad literature” and “Incompetent Literature” in specific historical structure.
