Abstract It is unnecessary for wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) to be implanted, and the device can be worn and took off at any time, very applicable for emergency defibrillation in the population with high risk of sudden death. The currently listed WCD devices are only LifeVest series produced by American ZOLL Medical Corporation, and the users include over 100 000 cases of patients in Europe and America. Remote ECG monitoring is regarded as a double insurance of WCD. Manipulation by using WCDs automatic programs, coupled with manual intervention of remote ECG, can further improve its efficacy and safety, reduce misoperation, improve accuracy of cardiac defibrillation, and save more lives. This paper briefly illustrates the status of WCD clinical application at home and abroad, introduces its composition and structure, the scopes of clinical application, and proposes its disadvantages and promotion limitations. China is suggested combining the advantages of WCD and remote ECG analysis center, and developing WCD service system with Chinese characteristics.
