Abstract Spray disinfection in public disinfection channels is an important way to cut off the spread of the virus. This study was based on the sanitary disinfection channel developed by the Industry-University-Research Cooperation Project of Jiangsu University. With the FLUENT simulation platform, a two-way coupled CFD-DPM method was used to numerically simulate the distribution of spray and multiphase flow fields when people pass through the channel. The results show that the human model can be well covered by the spray with the Reynolds number about 1×105. The horizontal spray angle is used when higher personnel passes through the disinfection channel. It is suitable for students of the middle school to pass through the public disinfection channel with the upper row of spray holes tilted down by 10°. The near part of the human model′s feet is covered when the lower spray angle tilted 30° and this can satisfy a special need of disinfection. When the human body model moves, a large amount of circumfluence will be formed around the model, which is beneficial to improve the disinfection efficiency. By appropriately adjusting the spray angles, the different needs such as local key disinfection or overall coverage disinfection can be well satisfied. The study provides a reference for the sanitary disinfection channels′ design and improvement.
