Finite element analysis of axial displacement of rotor of RCP set HPR1000

Abstract:In order to study the influence caused by factors such as self-weight, external load and thermal expansion of relevant components of RCP set on the axial displacement of rotor, a certain type of shaft-sealed RCP set was analyzed. A combination of numerical calculation and experimental verification was used to analyzed the axial displacement of the rotor of the RCP. The calculation and analysis results showed that the thermal deformation between the motor stool and the shaft seal housing area is beneficial to the free compensation clearance of the mechanical seal of the RCP. However, the motor related components are subject to significant external load deformation and thermal deformation, and the total axial displacement after the combined deformation of rotor weight and bearing design clearance exceeds the design expectation, which will have a negative impact on the normal operation of the RCP set. The hydraulic jacking test results of the motor rotor components are consistent with the numerical calculation results, which verified the accuracy of the numerical calculation results. In order to reduce the axial displacement of the rotor of the RCP set, the clearance of the motor thrust bearing and the axial displacement of the rotor were adjusted and optimized by adding spacer gasket, and increasing the design height of some rotor parts. The adjusted and optimized RCP set is verified through full flow experimental verification. The full load test results showed that the axial displacement of the rotor of the RCP set after adjustment and optimization is, in line with expectations and the operating performance of the RCP set is stable.
