Abstract:When hydrocyclone is used to exclude the sediments in the Yellow River,the two indexes of particle size distribution and average particle size of the overfall are very effective in measuring the performance of the hydrocyclone.Firstly,the experimentation was made by changing structural and operating properties of a basic hydrocyclone on an simulative test apparatus excluding sediments from the Yellow River.Then,effects on the performance of the hydrocyclone were qualitatively summarized and evaluated through the analysis and evaluation on median particle.The results show that separation product’s median diameter decreases to about 65.6% distinctly when charge stock soliquold particle’s median diameter is 3.5 μm and input pressure is between 0.06 MPa and 0.07 MPa. Separation product’s median diameter alters non-distinctly when input pressure is above 0.07 MPa.Separation product’s median diameter decreases to about 68.4% when charge stock soliquold particle’s median diameter is 3.0 μm,input pressure is 0.05 MPa and underflow outlet diameter ascends from 14 μm to 16 μm.hydrocyclone;solid-liquid separation;particle size distribution;median diameter
