Model and operation strategy of pumpedstorage in hybrid power system

Abstract:Based on the characteristics of hybrid power system, a mathematical model of pumpedstorage was established. According to its function, the pumpedstorage operation strategy was put forward, that is, to operate as per given load and specifically in the hybrid windPVpumpedstorage system, to operate as per net load. A control model of pumpedstorage was accordingly proposed: as the net load was greater than zero, the pumpedstorage unit operated under the turbine operating conditions could be classified into three situations. Firstly, as net load was less than the starting power of turbine, pumpedstorage units were not operating. Secondly, as net load was greater than the starting power and less than the rated power of turbine, pumpedstorage units were operating at the turbine condition as net load power. Thirdly, as net load was less than the rated power of turbine, pumpedstorage units were operating as the rated power of turbine. When net load was less than zero, pumpedstorage units operated under the pump operating conditions could be classified into two situations. Firstly, as net load was less than the rated power of pump, pumpedstorage units were not operating. Secondly, as net load was greater than the rated power of pump, pumpedstorage units were operating as the rated power of pump.
