Abstract Highend talents of engineering and technology are essential to construct a powerful manufacturing country when Chinese government put forward the strategy of "Made in China 2025". With China′s access to the Washington Accord, it marks a new level in the quality of higher education of engineering. However, it just reaches a "bottom line" of international accreditation quality. In the process of followup development, we need grasp three ideas of the Accord: studentcentered (SC), outcomesbased education (OBE), and continuous quality improvement (CQI), and correspondingly reflect some problems of higher education of engineering development in the interdisciplinarity, internationalization and popularization. Finally, it is aimed to match "ideas" and "realities": the first is to build the mechanism of interdisciplinary education and highlight practical employability; the second is to eliminate underlying international differences and reconstruct paths of engineering accreditation based substantial equivalence; the last is to steer connotative construction in the mass higher education process and build up institutional quality culture.
