Abstract The academy is an internal organization of university, and it is organized for students life and their cultural activities. The academy of university in China has been showing a positive development trend in recent years, but the relationship between academy and existing student management system should be coordinated, as well as the relationship between academy and college of discipline & profession. Meanwhile, the issues of rationality and legality of academy should be settled, too. From the perspective of character, the academy of university should be an organization upholds a clear educational concept; should be a community organization which organizes a variety of activities, and based on students selfhelp, selfeducation and selfmanagement; should be a special educational organization which nurtures the mind and spirit, and plays an important supporting role for the education of discipline & profession. As an innovative organization for students life, cultural education and service, the academy of university should has several functions, including life support, teaching aid, cultural education, administrative assistance and community selforganized.
