Abstract Discipline construction is the process of planning and reorganizing the development of disciplines, and an important way for universities to enhance the overall strength and core competitiveness of the organization. In the era of the knowledge economy, universities are not only organizations of knowledge production, but also institutions that participate in social and economic development and carry out entrepreneurial activities. The rise of academic entrepreneurship broadens the boundaries and enriches the content of the university′s disciplinebased knowledge production activities. The discipline construction should realize the overall coordination of knowledge production and academic entrepreneurship, assume both "social" and "academic" responsibilities, and take into account the internal knowledge value and external social value. We could activate innovation vitality of grassroots academic organizations of the university by building an interdisciplinary research platform, create discipline development periphery with a "disciplineprofessionindustry chain" organization structure, establish an innovative entrepreneurial community and integrate entrepreneurial culture, change the discipline governance mode and form the sustainable core momentum of discipline construction, and promote the realization of the university′s goal of improving academic entrepreneurship ability based on knowledge production.
