Abstract:To be out of poverty means to enlarge one′s ownership of capitals and exchange entitlement mapping, so the core of fighting poverty through education is to cultivate students′ all kinds of capitals. The impoverished undergraduates are generally disadvantaged in four dimensions of cultural capital, social capital, symbolic capital and economic capital, and the first three kinds of capitals could be converted into economic capital. Based on its qualitative connotation, general undergraduate education should compensate the impoverished students from the above four dimensions, which is also the due responsibility of universities based on the notion of disadvantage compensation in civilized society. Therefore, on the basis of accurate identification of impoverished undergraduates and effective direct economic compensation, universities should carry out targeted education for these students from the academic cultural capital and the taste cultural capital, guide impoverished students to increase the awareness and ability of participating in social activities and promote the accumulation of impoverished students′ potential economic capital under the premise of adhering to the general education idea.
