Abstract The tensile properties and microstructures of dual phase steel laser TWBs were investigated at temperatures range from 550 to 700 ℃ and strain rate range from 0.000 1 to 0.100 0 s-1. The correlation of deformation conditions and grain size were discussed. Based on Z parameter, the grain size models of base metal and heataffected zone of dual phase steel laser TWBs were established to investigate the variations of grain size. The results show that as strain rate decreases or temperature increases, the dynamic recrystallization becomes stronger, and the grain size of base metal and heataffected zone of dual phase steel laser TWBs grows bigger. The models were introduced into the software of ABAQUS to verify the accuracy of the grain size models by comparing the simulated and measured values. The variation of grain size of base metal and heataffected zone of dual phase steel TWBs can be predicted by the proposed models under different deformation conditions.
