Abstract The surface temperature of asphalt mixture paving is not uniform to cause thermal segregation, which results in uneasily compacted mixture and makes the local road compaction not meet the requirements with early diseases. The road picture was taken after paving before rolling, and the pavement temperature distribution was recorded by infrared thermal imager to obtain the road surface temperature data at different points. The data visualization processing was conducted by MATLAB software, and the pavement temperature segregation was analyzed by the area percentage of various temperature section. The calculation method of temperature segregation degree (TSD) was applied on a real construction project of asphalt pavement engineering. The results show that the proposed method can realize the quantitative analysis for asphalt pavement temperature uniformity during paving process. Using TSD as index to evaluate the temperature uniformity of asphalt mixture, the real-time monitoring of pavement temperature can be realized in actual construction process to ensure the construction quality.
