Abstract Objective: To explore the mRNA expression and potential significance of glycolysis related gene in peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) of patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA). Methods: PBMC were purified by Ficoll and glycolysis related genes mRNA expression was analysed by real-time PCR. Results: Compared with healthy control, PBMC from active RA patients significantly expressed higher level of glycolysis related genes including TPI,ENO,PKM and MCT. However, there were no significant differences in these genes between inactive group and control group. Conclusion: In RA patients, glycolysis related genes mRNA expression level were changed. Glycolysis may play an important role in the mechanism of RA.
