Therapeutic effect of tendrilleaf fritillary bulb on acute respiratory distress syndrome rats

Abstract:Objective: To observe the effect of tendrilleaf fritillary bulb on acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) rats induced by oleic acid. Methods: The ARDS model was constructed by injection of oleic acid intravenously. Forty model rats were randomly divided into ARDS model group, lowdose tendrilleaf fritillary bulb group, highdose tendrilleaf fritillary bulb group and dexamethasone group. Another ten Wistar rats were selected as the control group. Left lung wet/dry weight (W/D) ratio, lung tissue superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) content were detected, serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels were assayed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.Results: Compared with the control group, the model group showed lower levels of lung wet/dry weight (W/D) ratio, MDA,TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, but with higher levels of SOD activity (P<0.01 or P<0.05). The tendrilleaf fritillary bulb groups showed lower levels of lung wet/dry weight (W/D) ratio, MDA,TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, but higher levels of SOD, compared with the model group (both P<0.05). Conclusion: Tendrilleaf fritillary bulb could reduce lung tissue damage induced by oleic acid, and has the therapeutic effect on ARDS rat, which may be by preventing lipid peroxidation in the course of ARDS.
