Abstract:The post-90s students are chosen as the target to study the factors affecting their choice of accounting as major under such “accounting craze”. The results indicate that personality is the most significant factor. The thing-oriented students tend to choose accounting as their major, whereas the person-oriented are more likely to choose non-accounting majors. Job availability, good initial salary and security are also important contributing factors, but not the primary causes, in choosing major. Moreover, gender and parents' advices play but a limited role in their choice of major.
