| Analysis of tent-shaped T wave characteristics in 63 patients with chronic kidney disease without hyperkalemia |

Abstract Objective To analyze the characteristics of tent-shaped T wave in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD) in a non-hyperkalemia state. Methods We selected 63 hyperkalemia inpatients diagnosed with tent-shaped T wave by routine body surface ECG (hyperkalemia group), and another 63 CKD inpatients without hyperkalemia (hyperkalemia memory group). The duration and amplitude of T wave in lead V3 were measured, and compared between the two groups. Results In the two groups, the T wave duration in lead V3 is separately (146.10±20.47) ms and (153.44±16.99) ms while the amplitude of T wave is 1.50(1.00, 2.00) mV and 1.10(0.70, 1.50) mV, respectively, both with statistically significant differences (P＜0.05). Conclusion The morphological changes of tentshaped T wave are related to serum potassium concentration. The hyperkalemia memory phenomenon may be associated with the abnormal distribution of potassium ions in local myocardium, or the dynamic balance process of serum potassium concentration.
