| Effect of particle size on flow in stator and rotor cascades of guide vane type centrifugal pump |

Abstract In order to study the effect of particle size on the evolution of solid-liquid two-phase vortex structure, the vane type centrifugal pump is taken as the research object. Using the ICEM software on the research object of hexahedral mesh generation, the Mixture model and the large eddy simulation(LES)is used to simulate the whole flow field of the vane type centrifugal pump. The effects of particle size on the evolution of vorticity and the pressure pulsation in the impeller-guide vanes were analyzed and compared with those of 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mm. The results show that with the particle size increasing, the overall particle volume fraction in the impeller region decreases, and particle size distribution is more nonuniform. In the guide vane region, with the increase of the particle size, in back of the guide vane appeared an obvious particle aggregation area. Owing to the different force on the particles in impeller and guide vane, with the increase of the particle size, the pressure of the guide vane decreases, but the pressure in the impeller region is not obvious. Because of the rotor-stator interaction between the impeller and the guide blade, the action on the particles in the impeller and guide blade is not the same, especially at the joint of the impeller and guide vane, pressure fluctuation is very unstable.
