Quality evaluation of laser drilling of micro-sprinkling hose and its influence on orifice flow rate

Abstract:The structural parameters and flow rate of an individual orifice are important to the perfor-mance of a micro-sprinkling hose. To investigate orifice structure and spray characteristics of micro-sprinkling hoses, two kinds of strengthened edge rolling micro-sprinkling hoses using by laser drilling technique from domestic and abroad were selected. Each group of which has an orifice group of 12 orifices. The methods of orifice parameter measurement and machining quality evaluation were proposed based on image processing technology, and the test of orifice flow rate was carried out. The results indicated that the relative error of the orifice area measured from the inside and the outside was less than 10% for two micro-sprinkling hoses. Both the average roundness of individual orifices for the imported and domestic micro-sprinkling hoses ranged from 0.82 to 0.88, and from 0.82 to 0.91, respectively. The roundness deviation coefficient of the individual orifice at the same position of different samples was less than 0.040, and the flow rate deviation coefficient was less than 0.120 for the imported micro-sprinkling hose. Both the deviation coefficients for the roundness and orifice flow rate of the domestic micro-sprinkling hose displayed a remarkable difference among different samples, with values of 0.009 to 0.069 and 0.057 to 0.475, respectively. Therefore, the area and roundness could be used as indexes to evaluate the individual orifice of different laser drilling micro-sprinkling hoses. The difference of flow rate is small for the individual orifice at the same position in different orifice groups of the micro-sprinkling hose, when the fluctuation of orifice area and the deviation coefficient of roundness is relatively small.
